I believe Paul may have had this title in his head after the project was finished - it wasn't released for 6 months after sign off. SX2000 was not a name I labelled any of the Multitrack, 1/4 " tapes, Dats, rough mix tapes or Master tapes. There are unreleased alternative versions of most of the tracks that feature on the album - Paul will personally have these. Re - sampling and royalties - we were very careful to never use more than a few beats - the sampling law at the time was more than 2 musical bars used or blatant copying needed paying for - we only ever used less than a musical bar! The album was recorded under the name" The Paul Weller Movement" at no time was it ever just under Paul's name - I wrote all of the liner notes on the master tapes and all of the track listing and desk recall sheets, everyone is labelled The Paul Weller Movement,"įeelin Alright - Paul was certainly into Traffic a lot at this time it would have been their version that Paul was into - there are various unreleased versions that haven't seen the day yet. Dr Robert also used the same bass, Marco used a Fender Precision. Guitar Amps used were a Vox AC30 and a Marshallīass was a Hofner Bass (Paul McCartney style) recorded straight to tape. Paul had about 20 Guitars available at the recording session but never any of the others. The Paisley Tele was never used - Paul loved the look but it played like ****. Guitars used on the album were Fender Strat (brownish colour) - the one that made appearances in various videos at the time, a pale Fender Tele, a sitar. The album was however mixed in a vinyl friendly fashion unlike most recordings at that time, Paul adored vinyl, we all did and still do to this day. The pressing plants have no facilities to change the sound of the CD - they are using a coded master that has all the PQ'ing info, track coding etc stamped into - this is non-changeable and is part of the digital book codes. Only one digital master exists - Paul has this. The album was only mixed and mastered once (I know this as I was there when it was done) - there was never a US mix, UK mix or a Japanese version, the only differences may have come from the pressing plants although I doubt this very much as they would have been supplied a digital master.
